As we
have discussed earlier, your conscious mind serves as the “watchman at the
gate.” One of its most crucial functions protects your subconscious mind from the false impressions. The reason goes back to the basic laws of our mind: Your
subconscious mind is very sensitive to suggestion.
Suggestion
can be used as a tool to discipline and control ourselves. However, it can also
be used to take control and command over others who have not been taught to
understand the laws of mind. In its constructive form it is magnificent and
wonderful. In its negative aspects, it is one of the most destructive of all
the response patterns of the mind. Its results can be dangerous patterns of
misery, failure, sickness and disaster.
Imagine
that you are on board a ship that is rocking a bit from side to side. You
approach a timid looking fellow and say, “Your face is practically green! I am
afraid that you are about to be seasick. Can I help you to your cabin?” The
passenger will suddenly turn pale. The suggestion you just gave made about
sickness links up with her own fears. Once that is there, your negative
suggestion, which got accepted, comes true.
You
must be very careful to give your subconscious mind only those suggestions that
heal, elevate and inspire you in all your ways. Remember, your subconscious
mind doesn’t understand a joke. It takes you at your word.
How to get subconscious mind
work for you
Your
subconscious is the builder of your body, but you cannot perceive or hear that
inner silent process. Your work is with your subconscious mind and not
subconscious mind. Begin now to take care of your conscious mind, knowing in
your mind, knowing your heart and soul that your subconscious mind is always
expressing and reproducing according to your thinking. Remember, just as water
takes the shape of the pipe it flows through, the life principle in you flows
according to the nature of your thoughts. Firmly believe that it is
continuously flowing through you inspiring and prospering you, and it will
respond exactly that way. It is done only when you believe!
